The story of Dru
Work, family, and lessons from limited means
Dru grew up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, after his parents divorced when he was two. His father served in the military, while his mother supported four children through sustained work and a refusal to depend on handouts. Meals such as macaroni with brown gravy remained symbols of a childhood with limited money but substantial family support. A grandmother drove an hour to help with schoolwork and made sure the middle child did not receive only hand-me-downs.
His father stressed persistence and withholding judgment until he understood another person's circumstances. His grandfather taught him to save part of every hundred dollars and warned that many mistakes might precede one important win. Those lessons shaped Dru's emphasis on self-reliance, long time horizons, and responsibility to people whose struggles are easy to overlook.
A multimillion dollar loss and the cost of staying in the game
Dru entered Web3 with game technology experience and later lost about $5.6 million in a project failure. Rather than leave the market, he treated the loss as a reason to assemble a stronger business plan and team. His wife backed the decision even when he warned that building the next company could consume most of their resources. The new effort required substantial infrastructure spending before launch, including months of content delivery and hosting costs needed for console approval.
Dru's habit of personally carrying every problem also became a risk. Long workdays affected his health until teammates and family pushed him to rest and delegate. He now frames community not only as an audience but as a support system that must be trusted with real responsibility before founder pride becomes another point of failure.
Taking Ultra Kingdoms across consoles and communities
CyberAip Yacht Club is the operating entity building Ultra Kingdoms under parent company 8 Galaxy. Dru describes Ultra Kingdoms as a multiverse game world where active communities and NFT projects can develop spaces, stores, land, activities, and their own connected economies. The team is building for PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and mobile with cross-platform play, and says its early approval path gave the project a grandfathered position for blockchain functionality on consoles.
Patented streaming integrations are intended to let creators and communities bring live and recorded media into the game environment. Dru links the product vision to the way his team already operates: members are treated like family, emergency support extends beyond the game, and transparency is used to maintain trust while the company carries unusually high technical and financial commitments.
