The story of Rebecca

Learning Precision and Collective Responsibility

Rebecca Liao was born in the United States to parents who had immigrated from China. Before kindergarten, she spent much of her time with her mother, reading and watching recordings of Russian ballet. Swan Lake captured her attention so completely that she began moving the furniture and dancing along. Her mother enrolled her in ballet at three, beginning a practice Rebecca still maintains.

Ballet taught her to make difficult work look effortless, accept detailed coaching, and understand that an individual performance must serve the whole company. It also gave her a place where she is regularly not in charge, an experience she values as a chief executive. The discipline became a model for leadership: train consistently, keep learning from multiple teachers, respect the collective, and do urgent work without forgetting that meaningful mastery takes years.

Crossing Politics, Law, and Technology

Rebecca's professional route moved through law, public policy, presidential campaigns, and technology before Saga. She advised political work on technology and foreign policy, joined startup teams, and co-founded another blockchain company. Each setting required her to translate between people with different incentives and to make decisions under public pressure. She also spoke directly about operating in a male-dominated industry, the importance of authentic leadership, and the difficulty of carrying a company through days that never appear in a polished founder profile.

Good co-founders became essential not only because their skills complemented hers, but because they were trusted friends inside the same reality. Outside mentors could offer perspective, yet they could not fully share the burden. Rebecca's resilience therefore comes from both personal discipline and the willingness to build a team where difficult information can be discussed without performance or judgment.

Building the Infrastructure Behind New Worlds

At Saga, Rebecca and her co-founders are building blockchain infrastructure intended to help applications launch dedicated chains, with a strong focus on gaming and entertainment. She described Saga as an L1 platform that can support other application-specific environments and as a publishing partner evaluating game teams for funding and operational help. That work puts the quality of the founding team at the center of technical decisions. Infrastructure alone does not create a useful ecosystem; developers need support, partnerships, and a platform that understands the demands of the products they are trying to ship.

Rebecca brings ballet's combination of urgency and long-term training into that task. The team works intensely as if it is already late, but must also remain prepared for market shifts and delays. Saga's larger goal is to make app infrastructure easier to access without lowering standards for execution, trust, or leadership.
