The story of Daila
Finding a model for care and boundaries
Daila grew up amid poverty and an unstable home life, often finding refuge in reading, art, and time with her grandparents. Her grandfather opened the gate to their Puerto Rico home each morning to help neighbors, but kept the hours before that for family. That physical boundary became Daila's model for serving a community without surrendering private life.
Books and improvised art materials also gave her a way to turn distress into stories, images, and experiments. At eighteen, a family conflict left her without transportation or dependable support in another town. The experience forced her to rely on her own decisions and reinforced a lasting commitment to build the care, connection, and reliability she had needed herself.
Success without balance became unsustainable
After leaving college because she could not afford to continue, Daila worked in advocacy and co-founded a transitional housing program for people returning from prison. Her own experience of instability informed a practical effort to help residents become productive community members rather than return to unsafe conditions or incarceration. The program became financially successful, but Daila kept pushing long after the work had become physically and emotionally unsustainable.
Constant availability, parenting, and exposure to repeated crises led to severe burnout and illness. Recovery required separating personal worth from achievement, accepting limits, and redefining success around pride in who she was rather than what she owned. She began protecting offline time, missing online events without guilt, and allowing imperfect days.
Building safer, more durable online communities
Daila entered Web3 through Bitcoin trading in 2020 and found a deeper purpose after joining an NFT community whose members taught and encouraged one another. She began creating comedic and experimental content, contributing to several communities, and organizing spaces where women could ask technical, financial, and personal questions without being dismissed. Through a trusted relationship with Finn, she joined the Abstract ecosystem and eventually took responsibility for Abstract Angels as an official team member.
Her community method favors a varied mix of personalities, ages, and experience levels, with active attention to boundaries, respect, and leadership tone. She wants members to gain trusted judgment and durable relationships, not merely activity, hype, or short-term financial signals.
